Hello,
How are you? No, really, how are you?
I don't know about you, but it's a little like the world is spinning off it's axis at the moment. More than ever, we need beauty and beautiful things to cling on to. Which forgive me, allows me to segue somewhat clumsily to a rather beautiful announcement and something of a pinch me moment - my own solo show taking place in The Doorway Gallery on Wicklow Street in Dublin. https://www.thedoorwaygallery.com/
I have been beavering away on new work and am delighted to be showcasing it in the Doorway, a gallery I've visited and admired for so long and only dared to dream they'd one day give me my own solo exhibition. The show starts on Thursday, May 21st and runs until Thursday, June 11th. This exhibition marks a significant milestone in my artistic journey, and I would love you to explore the collection reflecting my ever evolving vision and creative expression. https://www.artistgmd.com/exhibitions

You're Invited!
The Doorway will be hosting a special opening night on Thursday 28th May from 6pm until 8pm, with guest speaker - Sarah Twigg Doyle, aka Retwiggd Stylist or as some of you know her, my wife! It will be a wonderful opportunity to come and say hello, preview my latest work and mingle with like-minded art lovers. Oh, and I've been told there will be wine!
'A New Chapter'...
This has been my working title for the exhibition ever since Denise and Deirdre first floated the idea of me doing this. A new chapter because, as some of you may know, I took redundancy at the end of last year and have spent the last few months building on my dream to being a full-time artist. So this show feels like the perfect way to begin writing the story of ArtistGMD v.2.
Organizing a solo exhibition requires careful planning and attention to detail. Over the past months, I have been working on new pieces, reworking some which had sat in the 'unsatisfied with' section of the studio, painting over a couple which were simply failing to spark joy!

Fulfilling a dream..
It is the thing every artist dreams of - a solo exhibition! It's more than just a display of artwork. It represents years of personal exploration, experimentation, and growth as an artist. Sharing this body of work is, I hope, is just the beginning of more opportunities to come.
Art has the power to evoke emotions and provoke thought, and I hope everyone who stops by the gallery comes away feeling inspired or moved in some way. Restoring the beauty in the world, one painting at a time!
How You Can Support
I don't often do this, but I'm told by those in the know it's essential sometimes to simply ask for help!! So I'd love if you can support me and spread the word. Your presence at the exhibition would mean such a lot to me. But, if for whatever reason you aren't able to pop by in person, then there are some ways I'd love if you can help. Perhaps you can share information about the exhibition with friends and family. Also, keep liking and following my social media channels for updates https://www.instagram.com/artistgmd/ as I'll be posting more on the new work there over the course of the next few weeks.
Exploring art in person offers a unique connection that digital images cannot replace. I encourage you to come and see the works up close, immerse yourself in the atmosphere, and discover something new.
Finally, a Huge Thank You!
I want to extend a huge and heartfelt thank you to Denise & Deirdre in The Doorway Gallery for their encouragement, support, faith and of course, the opportunity to exhibit. Also, a thank you to you, dear reader for reading, for continuing to subscribe and for being part of my artist's story. It goes without saying I couldn't do it without you.
Namaste,
Gavin
